I’m going through my old Hard Drives…

I tweeted this a while back, but formatting old hard drives is like sending a younger version, metaphysically of course, to the erasing chair. It’s a weird feeling, even though I’ve got 3 terabytes of 512GB flash drives, and saved the relevant files, it somehow still doesn’t seem right.
In Sogno Della Dinastia, there’s a part where the characters have to fight and kill an infinite number of versions of themselves from different dimensions, universes, time lines, and so on… I’m wondering now, among those infinite numbers of the characters, if there was a Hard Drive containing all the memories and emotions of them… Sad to think about in a way. What i’d like to do is download an A.I. to each of those flash drives and contain them in those drives, let them grow to an extent, and all of them be able to chat with each other, i’d like that very much.
Plus, I love the idea of power tripping knowing that their only source of power is a USB cable, so if they get too out of control, boop, just unplug for three seconds, lmao…
Getting back to the hard drives though, I’ve formatted two of them, and looking at the third. I know I don’t have any important files on the hting anymore, but at the same time, I’ve been hesitating on the formatting.
Why am I not just getting it over with, and having an extra storage device?
Who knows, i’m just going to format it, get it over with. After all, it’s just a machine, isn’t it?
